Ram Introduces ProMaster Electric Van
Ram is continuing its electrification efforts across its lineup with the introduction of the ProMaster electric van. Available in delivery or cargo models, the new van will be the first fully electric Ram vehicle available on the market.
Electric Van Features and Battery Range
The battery-electric van built on the ProMaster architecture, but designed specifically for electrification, will feature a 110-kWh battery pack with a targeted range of up to 261 km in city driving. A unibody design incorporates the battery pack efficiently under the floor in the centre of the vehicle, maintaining a flat floor while cargo volume is unchanged from the internal combustion engine vehicles.
ProMaster Payload and Cargo Models
The delivery configuration features 921 kg (2,030 pounds) of payload. Two cargo models, one with a 12-foot cargo length and an extended 13-foot version, are both available on a 4,039-mm (159-inch) wheelbase and have a 1,370-kg (3,020-pound) payload.
Performance, Charging, and Customization Options
A 200-kW electric drive module delivers 268 hp, 302 lb.-ft. of torque, and standard front-wheel-drive capability. ProMaster EV features Level 3 DC fast charging options of 50, 85, 125, and 150 kW. A wall box charger (Level 2) with up to 11 kW is available. The charge point illuminates while the vehicle is charging, and an audible sound alert confirms the connection.
Upfit-Friendly Design and Cargo Handling
The highly customizable ProMaster EV will eventually be available in two roof heights, two cargo lengths, and two body styles. Cargo-handling capability includes 524 cubic feet of cargo space, interior cargo height of 2,184 mm (86 inches), low load-floor height, and more. It is also upfitter-friendly, featuring a standard upfitter electrical connector and an integrated cab configuration for easy upfitter/conversion solutions. Virtually all primary vehicle systems are packaged forward of the cargo area. The unique front-drive system, body-integral construction, and multiple configurations make the ProMaster EV easy to upfit for virtually any commercial need.
Enhanced Safety and Security Features
Safety and security features have expanded on the new van, and now include Front and Rear Park Sense with full stop, a white noise backup alarm, and a ‘normal’ backup alarm. Other features include Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning, Crosswind Assist, rear backup camera with dynamic gridlines, post-collision braking, Drowsiness Detection, traffic sign information, auto high-beams and cornering function fog lamps, push-button starter, keyless entry (all doors), and an electric parking brake.
Additional Safety Options
Safety options include Intelligent Speed Assist, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Active Drive Assist system, front parking sensors, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
Enhanced Visibility and Rearview Technology
Visibility around the vehicle is enhanced with the standard backup camera. An available digital rearview mirror displays video in real time in all driving modes from a rear-facing camera and can be turned off to revert to a traditional reflective mirror. A 360-degree Surround View camera is available that provides bird’s-eye views of the vehicle and its surroundings.
