Xiaomi’s Upcoming Automotive Technology Reveal
Before Xiaomi introduces its electric vehicles such as the SU7 in 2024, the company is set to showcase its automotive technology on December 28th. Company teasers have indicated that we’ll witness the technological progress Xiaomi has made in the electric vehicle space on that date.
Announcement Details and Expectations
The announcement, accompanied by a teaser, was made on the newly established Weibo account for Xiaomi EV. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun clarified that the event will focus solely on technology, meaning the SU7’s debut will not take place at the same event. Jun also emphasized that in the future, we can expect events dedicated to “technological launch” rather than just product releases.
Generating Excitement and Attracting Partners
It’s possible that Xiaomi is aiming to generate excitement around its cars and attract partners and investors through such events. We can expect to learn details about the batteries used, design, software, and potentially even features related to autonomous driving. As for the SU7, it is known to be a larger vehicle compared to the Tesla Model 3, but with similar design lines.
Specifications and Variants of the SU7
The SU7 features a 3-meter wheelbase and batteries with capacities of 73.6 kWh or 101 kWh. The former provides 628 kilometers of range, while the latter offers up to 800 kilometers. The car will be available in three variants: the SU7, SU7 Pro, and SU7 Max. Production is set to start this month, with deliveries beginning in February 2024
