DJI Mini 4 Pro Receives a Christmas Gift: A Substantial Update Bringing 360-Degree Automated Videos and Enhanced Safety

The DJI Mini 4 Pro’s Latest Update Enhances Its Capabilities

Boasting a 48-megapixel 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor, omnidirectional obstacle detection, and other advanced intelligent flight features, the DJI Mini 4 Pro is undoubtedly among the best drones on the market. Now, with the latest update, it has become even more powerful.

Firmware and App Update Enhances Camera Functions, Security, and Compatibility

The update, released a few days ago, is marked by version number v01.00.0300 for the drone’s firmware (with the remote controls updated to v02.00.0300 for DJI RC 2 and v01.01.0200 for DJI RC-N2), and the DJI Fly app has been updated to v1.12.4 for both iOS and Android platforms. This update significantly improves the camera features, safety, and device compatibility. Let’s delve into all the details, but not before reminding you of our article on how SmartThings works.

The Changelog: A Detailed Look at the New Features

  • Adds the automatic mode for ActiveShots 360
  • Adds Vision Assist
  • Adds a switch for Vision Positioning and Obstacle Sensing
  • Adds a 3x digital zoom for 12 MP photo mode
  • Adds support for taking five 48 MP photos in AEB and Burst Shooting mode
  • Adds support for DJI Goggles 2, DJI Goggles Integra, and DJI RC Motion 2 for FPV piloting
  • Adds support for automatic activation of Remote ID in the United States (not compatible with EASA Remote ID) only when the aircraft is used with an Intelligent Flight Battery Plus

Vision Assist and Improved Flight Control

Vision Assist is a feature that helps to anticipate obstacles in all directions during a flight, as it adds visual assistance from the front, back, left, and right. To activate it, simply touch the screen and view obstacles from various directions. Additionally, you now have the option to disable the downward-facing sensor on the Mini 4 Pro, which can be useful in scenarios requiring rapid landing, such as when flying from a boat or a moving vehicle.

The new Auto mode for ActiveShots 360 allows the Mini 4 Pro to go beyond simple tracking of a subject by performing a variety of maneuvers, like following the subject from different directions, as well as ascending and performing a spiral movement, similar to the Helix recording mode.

Manual and Automatic Modes for Dynamic Footage

These features can be used in manual mode, allowing customization of the flight path from multiple directions and use of the manual wheel for cinematic camera movements like circling, approaching, and moving away. Alternatively, in automatic mode, the drone frames the subject and the Mini 4 Pro will automatically plan and execute the flight route. Even during dynamic filming, it selects multiple perspectives and camera movements.

Moreover, you can now perform a digital zoom of 1x to 3x in the 12 MP photo mode and take five 48 MP photos using AEB and Burst Shooting modes.

Enhanced FPV Capabilities with DJI’s Latest Gear

Finally, the drone is now compatible with the latest DJI FPV equipment: Goggles 2, Goggles Integra, and RC Motion 2. This allows Mini 4 Pro owners to experience the thrill of immersive first-person flight by connecting their drone with goggles and a motion-sensing joystick.

Update Procedure and Bug Fixes

The update also includes solutions to some minor bugs reported by users. To install it, update the DJI Fly app to version 1.12.4 on iOS or Android, and you will be notified of the update.
